FAQ

Straight answers.

The questions Buckie gets asked most. If yours isn't here, call or text (240) 520-4450 — that's the fastest way to a real answer.

Getting started

When should I call instead of handling it myself?
When it keeps coming back, when there's a nest you can't safely reach, or when you're seeing the same pest in more than one room. A few ants at a picnic is normal. A trail across the kitchen every morning means there's a colony with a route into the house, and store-bought spray only kills the ones you can see.
Is there really no initial fee?
If you're switching from another pest control company and there are no major issues on the first visit, there's no initial service fee. Simple, fair, hassle-free. If there is a major issue — or it's your first time using a pest service — the visit is quoted up front, so you hear the number before any work starts.
What happens during the first visit?
The technician walks the interior and exterior looking for activity, entry points and the conditions bringing pests in — and explains what they're seeing as they go. Most of the time treatment happens the same visit.
What should I include when I request service?
What you're seeing, where, and for how long. Photos help a lot — a phone snap of the bug or the nest usually tells Buckie what he's dealing with before he gets there. And say if it's urgent; a nest over the front door gets handled differently than a few crickets in the basement.
Do I need to do anything to prepare?
Usually very little. If a specific treatment needs something from you — clearing under a sink, or providing access to a crawl space or attic — you'll be told ahead of time.

Treatment & safety

Is it safe for kids and pets?
Buckie's uses eco-friendly solutions and treats them as safe for kids and pets. You'll be told anything specific for your home — like keeping pets off a treated area until it's dry — at the visit.
Do you treat inside, outside, or both?
Both. Treatment covers the interior, the exterior perimeter, entry points, eaves and overhangs — and gets into crawl spaces and attics, if accessible, when that's where the problem is. Cobwebs and nests come down where they need to.
Do you handle wasp and hornet nests?
Yes — paper wasps, yellow jackets, bald-faced hornets and bees. It's one of the most common calls. Nests get treated and removed, and the spot they used gets addressed.
Do you do termites and mosquitoes?
Yes. Termite work starts with an inspection of the foundation, accessible crawl space and sill areas. Mosquito treatment targets resting and breeding areas around the property.
What don't you handle?
Ask. If it's something Buckie's handles, you'll be told; if it isn't, you'll be pointed in the right direction.

Quarterly service

How often does prevention need to happen?
For most homes around here, quarterly keeps up with the seasons: spring ants and wasps, summer mosquitoes and hornets, fall stink bugs and crickets, overwintering pests in winter. It isn't required — plenty of jobs are a single visit.
Is there a contract?
No long-term contract. Quarterly customers keep the schedule because it keeps the pests out.
Can I start with one visit and switch later?
Yes. Plenty of customers do exactly that.
